Myran Craig was born in Denver in 1929. At Denver South High School, Myran made a mark for himself as one of the finest all-around athletes in the nation, lettering in four sports. He showed such promise as a baseball player that Ty Cobb came to Colorado specifically to recruit him.
Golf has been a part of his life since he graduated from the University of Denver in 1951. From 1953-1969 Myran was a teacher and coach at East High School. He became directly involved with golf in 1969 when he went to work for Paul McMullen at Aurora Hills Golf Course.
In 1973 Myran became executive director of the joint Colorado Golf Association and Colorado Section of the PGA. When the two organizations split in 1978, Myran remained the PGA Section’s executive director, and he stayed in that role until 1995. That makes him the longest-serving person ever in that position.
While Myran was executive director, membership in the Colorado PGA increased nearly 250 percent.
Before joining the Colorado PGA and the CGA, he was head professional at South Suburban Golf Course.
