Nancy Roth Syms moved to Colorado Springs in 1968 and has been a member of the Broadmoor Golf Club ever since. Her competitive career began while growing up in Indiana, then flourished in Florida, where she captured the Florida state championship five times from 1961-’68. In 1963 and ’66, Syms won the North and South Amateur Championship. She was a member of three U.S. Curtis Cup teams—in 1964, ’66 and ’76—and was the non-playing captain of the team in 1980.
Syms’ greatest year in competitive golf, however, was 1975, when she was medalist in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, and became the fourth Colorado woman to win the British Ladies’ Amateur Golf Championship.
In addition to her national and international achievements, Syms also won the Broadmoor Ladies’ Invitational in 1972 and 1975.
